They have high-efficiency double photochromic ("Chameleon") and infrared light filters, which reliably protect the eyes of the serviceman from the powerful light, IR and UV radiation emitted during the atomic explosion. The light filters pass light of normal intensity without difficulty, however they instantly dim out when exposed to powerful light. They have a very comfortable and reliable construction in the best traditions of the Soviet Defense industry (milled steel parts of the frame, unique light filters, a well thought out anatomical design).
