Issued 1847 Leipzig & Glogau, by Flemming. Lithographed on two sheets and joined by publisher; original outline hand color.
A very scarce map only issued within a rare supplement volume to a Sohr atlas.
Of remarkable historical interest for the up close and detailed view of the apocryphal Nile source commonly labeled Mountains of the Moon. On this map all three versions are used, a feature not seen on many maps which depict them. Extensive interior political divisions are shown in a combination and manner unique to Germany cartography around this time. The Arabian coast is depicted with hundreds of interior place names as well as caravan routes between them.
Overall clean example, trivial light age spotting, left margin slightly wider at top, publishers linen on reverse joining sheets as issued.
