Description

Beacon Banjo Keith tuners for 2nd and 3rd string. Condition is "Used".
I bought these tuners from Bill Keith around 2005. He rebuilt them for me a few years later. Looking back, I don't think they needed to be rebuilt, but I was younger and thought it couldn't hurt. The tuners work perfectly, and I've used them on several banjos. Somehow over the years, however, I ended up with three sets of Keith tuners, and I don't need all of them.
The only issues with the tuners are: The second-string tuner (the one with the bigger diameter spool) has a flat spot on the first two threads; the nut can still be screwed on, but I had to use a 7/16" open-end wrench to get past the initial threads. After that, the nut spins down freely, and this never affected mounting the tuner in the peg head. The only other issue I noted is that there are a couple of small scratches on the black thumb screw on the third-string peg. I've tried to show both of these issues in the photos.
Both washers are leather, and they appear really dark because they have soaked up lubricant over the years, but they are not worn or rotten. Another of the pictures shows the thumb screws and springs removed. I replaced one of the the springs after learning the hard way that the thumb screws will sometimes wiggle loose over months of tuning the peg up and down. After I lost one of the springs, I got into the habit of checking the thumb screws all the time to make sure they were set or not too loose if I didn't have the stops set.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'll ship to anywhere in the US via priority mail.
Note: The leather washers are the ones that sit just under the white tuning key. The other washers on the string end are stainless steel.
